The number of Skills equipped at one time is dependent on the character's class for the most part, higher-tier classes have more Skill Slots than lower-tier ones. Skills are passive abilities that grant the character advantages in battle. Equipping the Art's associated weapon type or entering Overdrive will hasten the cooldown. They're frequently used, but each Art has a cooldown before it can be used again. These are the active abilities that can be used in battle. Normally, a character's weapons are restricted by their class, but reaching the maximum Rank in every class along a progression path allows Cross to use the weapons from that path regardless of their current class. When Cross reaches Class Rank 10, they unlock a new class that acts as an upgraded version of their current one. Each party member can reach a maximum Class Rank of 20, except for Cross who can only reach Class Rank 10 but can do so in multiple classes. As you progress through the game, each character on your team will see their Class Rank increase, earning them new Skills and Battle Arts when they reach the correct threshold.
